Day 1: Warm Welcome to Iceland

In the afternoon we arrive at the international airport in Keflavík and meet our guide. After a 20 minutes drive we stop at the Blue Lagoon, Iceland's most unique and popular attraction. Guests enjoy bathing and relaxing in Blue Lagoon geothermal seawater, known for its positive effects on the skin. A visit to the spa promotes harmony between body, mind and spirit, and enables one to soak away the stresses of modern life. We continue about on a scenic road along the south coast of the volcanic Reykjanes peninsula to Hotel Ranga, a four star country hotel beautifully located in South Iceland about 140 minutes from the Blue Lagoon. Dinner at Hotel Ranga. Hotel Ranga is an excellent location for observing the Northern Lights from October to March.

DAY 2: Thorsmork Valley with a view of the volcano in 4x4 Super Jeeps with BBQ

We leave the hotel in modified 4x4 Super Jeeps and drive into the nature reserve Thorsmork valley, one of the places that Icelanders appreciate most because of spectacular scenery and endless opportunities for outdoor activities. Many glacial rivers have to be crossed on the way to Thorsmörk which is surrounded by three glaciers and mountains. Following a rugged track on the foot of Eyjafjallajokull volcano that erupted in 2010 we are heading into the highlands. We explore the valley on a short hike with amazing views of glaciers and colorful landscape shaped by volcanoes. Returning to a cozy mountain hut for an Icelandic BBQ lunch, we enjoy organic mountain lamb and other Icelandic specialties. On the way back we visit Seljalandsfoss waterfall and can even walk behind the water which is cascading 62 off a cliff edge. From Thorsmörk it is possible to take a helicopter to the site of the 2010 eruption, an unforgettable experience with magnificent views of volcanic landscape and glacier ice. The flight up to the crater only takes 10 minutes. Drive to Reykjavik and check-in at the hotel followed by dinner at a trendy downtown restaurant with a menu offering an adventurous journey around the world.

DAY 3: Golden Circle Glacier Tour with Snowmobiling and Lobster Dinner

This excursion takes us to Iceland´s most spectacular natural sights along the Golden Circle route. The first stop is at Thingvellir National Park, the original site of the oldest existing parliament in the world, founded in the year 930 and designated UNESCO world heritage site. The most important events of Icelandic history have taken place at Thingvellir. The volcanic environment is very interesting as the rifting of the earth‘s crust is evident and the Eurasian and North-American continental plates are clearly visible. The tour continues to the famous Geysir area, a geothermal field with hot springs and the regularly spouting Geysir „Strokkur“. All of the worlds‘s spouting hot springs are named after the Geysir in Iceland. It is only a short drive from Geysir to Gullfoss, one of Europe´s most powerful waterfalls, thundering 32m over a fault into a gorge. Gullfoss means “the golden waterfall”, a name it was given because of the rainbows it creates on a sunny day. The onward drive takes us across a highland road to Langjokull glacier, Iceland’s second largest glacier, for an unforgettable ride on a snowmobile. On our way back to Reykjavík we stop for a lobster dinner at the Seashore restaurant located in the small fishing village Stokkseyri.
